Winn Grips Fishing 66" Rod Overwrap Tape, Slim Durable Non-Slip Polymer

This is actually a great product and came in handy this season. I purchased a few grappler LJ rods and the blank is exposed between The reel seat and butt of the blank. Literally took me 2 minutes to wrap the area of the rod I did and it looks like it came from the factory with this wrap. Works well and have used the rods with the Winn grip on them many times since and no signs of wear. Would highly recommend this product.

Several older gloomis rods have cork that was getting very slick. I have some other brand rods that have Winn grips from the factory and loved them. I tried these and they are awesome. Even when wet or cold they are grippy

Works great on the main handle. Had to look up videos on how to make the edges straight flush with the ends of the grips. Pretty easy after watching the video. Does not work so well on the butt end grip of the rod since it is sometimes sort of round and it doesn’t stick well without excessive use of electrical tape.

Exactly what I was looking for. Great color for my surf rod and surprisingly extra comfortable. Very lightweight so no major difference on the balance. Will buy more for other rods!

So after seeing reviews and videos of this stuff online, I decided to give this a shot as I wasn't the biggest fan of Eva foam handles and didn't want to do a full handle replacement as that required more work than I was comfortable doing. What they fail to tell you is that if your handle has any sort of curvature or flaring, other than a slight gradual taper, then this stuff will not work properly. No matter how much I tried to manipulate it. This stuff would not conform to the curve and flaring properly so what resulted was an uneven and "bulged" wrap. Also, the adhesive backing did not stick well to the foam so this only compounded the issue. As you can see in the pictures, the handle is curved and flared. After applying the overwrap, you can see the "bulge" where the wrap did not contour the curve and the adhesive not fully sticking to the foam so it is essentially floating and just an air pocket. This was applied to a brand new rod handle that had not yet been used so there was no contamination.
