This works really well transferring memories from different tapes. I highly recommend it.

DO NOT BUY THIS!
This item is horrible! It won't record a video DVD under approximately 30 minutes. The eject button on the top occasionally works. The attached error message is nonsensical and not explained in the manual about how to rectify. If you select to record at SLP the unit won't record. WORTHLESS!

It might be best for anything but VHS.
VHS to UBS: This format had problems. This was the reason I bought this device. Old movies to digital format. However, even after returning and replacing the device, it cut off after 1 hour, with 30 minute segments. It would not let me record anything over that, which is problematic for anything from family memories to a movie. I wanted to like this, it has potential, just not right for my needs.
