This is exactly what I wanted. We have 2 dogs and protecting them on the deck is all that's needed. Two prior gates quickly fell apart - exposed to the rain. They were hard to open and hard to close. They would bind. The new gait is amazing - all aluminum and stainless steel. assembles easily and swings freely on an ingenious hinge system. it's light weight and looks great. The dogs can push it and it's sturdy enough - but not really strong... In any event it really is the best exterior dog gait I've found yet. One final thought - the latch is a pain and not needed for my installation so I drilled it out.. no issues.. Now just lift up in the center of the gait and it freely swings open. I love it - hope you do too.

This gate is absolutely outstanding. It is well built, sturdy and exceeded our expectations. We installed in on our deck and much to our delight, the company included hardware for both inside and outside use. The installation was extremely easy with only 4 screws to install and 2 set screws to adjust the width. We ordered this to replace a gate that we paid twice as much for and was not even close to the quality of this gate nor the ease of installation. This gate will last for many years. We could not be more happy and would highly recommend this gate to anyone needing a gate on your deck or even within your home.

Fairly easy to put together. Ran into a minor snag where one bolt's threads were "off" and bolt would not go into gate to secure the item any more than halfway. Fortunately I had the same size bolt in our hardware storage since we save extra bolts, screws, etc. from every project for future uses and was able to get the job done after all. That's the only reason I gave it 4 stars rather than 5. Better for a product with screws, nuts, and bolts to provide at least one extra of everything. Husband complains the latch is small and tricky to maneuver with his larger sized fingers, but I don't have a problem. Keeps the dog where I want him to be if there are neighbors' dogs or guests I need to keep him away from without having to lock him indoors.

I love this gate! It’s perfect for keeping my young children away from the stairs and it looks nice too. It took my husband and I about 30 minutes to get it installed and it seems sturdy so far. Will be watching to see how it holds up to the weather but so far it’s great!

The Cardinal Outdoor safety gate has worked well for almost 3 years and shows no signs of wear or corrosion after daily use and exposure to FL coastal sun, humidity and salt. Assembly requires a screw driver. Mounting requires a drill. The strength of the gate is only as good as what it's mounted on. Try to mount into wood (stud behind drywall), aluminum, or concrete.

Outdoor gates seem to get bad reviews for rusting. This one seemed to have the best reviews regarding that aspect. I also needed a gate to cover a wide stairwell. It needed to be sturdy, not pressure mounted. I don't want to risk hurting or losing my puppy. I also needed a gate that didn't encourage climbing. The way the slats are placed, vertically, is a plus. I only wish it was a bit higher, as my puppy will probably grow to jump it. But, this was the best to addressed our needs.

I couldn’t give this gate any less than 5 starts because it has been my saving grace. Finding a gate that: A: can be use outdoors (no rusting) B: does not have a bottom bar (no tripping) C: is metal & wont allow for kids to slip under like the fabric ones Turns out to be extremely difficult.. this is the only gate I could find on the market that made that criteria & didn’t cost me my firstborn to buy. While I’m so thankful for this gate (we even bought another one for our porch as well) & trust it completely, I must admit the latch is annoying. It requires you to pinch these two small wiggly metal levers & pull up to open - which I mean, claps for child proofing, but can be super annoying. Overall is a great product though! I absolutely recommend it for outdoor use
